Climate Crisis Moment

Our Climate Crisis Moment was designed with 3 main goals in mind:

  1. To marry personal stories about climate change with a push for Charleston to reduce emissions and commit to action

  2. To provide an on-ramp for interested parties to become involved with climate activism through local orgs.

  3. To demonstrate solidarity with youth climate strikers.

Over 300 people gathered to show support for local climate action, including college, high school, and elementary school students. City officials, professors, and religious & community leaders also joined in the call for change.

Movements like this bring light to to fact that the consequences of continue fossil fuel use will disproportionately impact younger people. Climate action is something all can get behind, lessening environmental injustices, encouraging resilience, and creating healthy communities.
